Park fees and the Arusha to Moshi transfer cost extra.
Hike the first section of Kilimanjaro’s Marangu Route from Marangu Gate to Mandara Hut at 2,743 meters. Expect rainforest, blue monkeys, possible colobus sightings, a lunch box, bottled water, and guides such as Thomas, Norka, Tyson, or Bubusha. The 10-hour trip costs $100, but park fees are extra.

Expect monkeys, birds, mountain climbers, lunch, and a moderate four-hour trek within a six-hour day.
